Lander Karath is FasterSkier's Associate Editor from Bozeman, Montana and a Bridger Ski Foundation alumnus. Between his studies at Middlebury College in Vermont, he is an outdoor enthusiast and a political junkie.
Records were destroyed this Fourth of July in Seward, Alaska at the 88th edition of the annual Mount Marathon. In impressive fashion three runners bested previous course records, with international running stars Kilian Jornet and Emelie Forsberg claiming the men’s and women’s titles, respectively.
Skyler Davis, former USST member and SMS T2 racer, retired from skiing in 2014. Since then he's picked up soccer and is finding success at the University of Vermont where he was recently named the team's captain.
This week's Wednesday Workout comes from the Craftsbury Green Racing Project, centered at the Craftsbury Outdoor Center in Vermont. With professional rowers also based at the center, the GRP ski team takes advantage of the center's facilities to partake in full-body cross training.
Matthew Perry Johnson was named the new head coach of the Montana State University nordic ski team following Kristina Trygstad-Saari's resignation from the position this spring after one year on the job. Johnson is the third head coach in two years for the Bobcats.

If everything goes according to plan the world’s best junior and U23 nordic skiers will descend upon Park City, Utah in the winter of 2017. The United States Ski and Snowboard Association announced Tuesday that organizing body submitted a bid for the 2017 Junior/U23 World Championships.
The USST recently wrapped up its 2015 spring training camp in Park City, Utah. Although the camp was moved from Bend and Mt. Bachelor, Ore. due to lack of snow, it was deemed a success by USST Head Coach Chris Grover.

The U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association (USSA) announced its cross-country team nominations for the 2015/2016 season on Thursday, naming 16 athletes to the team, four more than the previous year.
Canadian star Alex Harvey went under surgery twice this spring to correct a problem with his iliac arteries. Both operations went well and the 26-year-old will return to training May 1.

Thursday's SuperTour Finals action welcomed the 30 and 50 k U.S. Distance Nationals, where Canada's Ivan Babikov won over Colorado's Rune Malo Ødegård and USST/SSCV's Noah Hoffman, who claimed the title of national champion. Caitlin Gregg (Team Gregg/Madshus) won the 30 k by just under three minutes over USST/Burke's Liz Stephen.
