Once again, not much commentary here, just some graphs showing some notable individuals progress through the tour.  I haven’t highlighted all the leaders, per se, just some of the top people and some other interesting ones. No one’s likely to touch Kowalczyk for the overall, although there’s a lot of racing left to be done. [...] Related posts:

Rumford, Roxbury, and Rangeley. Those are the towns we’ve been spending time in since arriving in Maine on Friday for a week of racing at US National Championships. Rumford is, of course, home to Black Mountain and all of the racing action. Roxbury is about 20 minutes north of Rumford and it’s where we are [...]

An excellent suggestion from the comments was to redo the graphs by nation, but overlay them on top of the same data from last year’s Tour for comparison. Easily done!  I’ve pruned back the nations plotted even further to focus more heavily on the big guns, and it also enhances readability.  Also, keep in mind [...] Related posts:

My concerns about kick wax vanished as I trudged along in the sandpaper track cut out of the ice hard skate deck at Green Acres. It was obvious that no one would be using the tracks except for some of the steeper climbs. I did a few warm up laps to fam...

Here’s a long story about what happened to me in yesterday’s sprint. It’s probably one of the more unusual stories from the day. The morning started off like any other race morning: we arrived, tested skis, warmed up, and everything seemed to be on track. I got to the start with my race skis and my [...]

Quoth Johan after today's 2x10 pursuit at the Tour de Ski, in which he finished 18th, "Det är en parodi att åka omkring på en golfbana när det finns så mycket fina berg att köra i.According to Google Translate, this means, "It is a travesty to go around on a golf course when there are so very nice mountain running in."According to the human who is behind World of XC and who knows English and

Just a few short notes focusing on the North Americans in the classic sprint yesterday.  First the men: One thing that stands out to me is that Harvey was actually skiing slightly faster than Kershaw all day.  Of course, the differences are very small (~1 second), but it highlights how large an impact the make-up [...] Related posts:
