Friday Rundown: West Yellowstone FIS Racing; Bozeman Canceled

The first official cross-country ski races of the season West Yellowstone Ski Festival, which has been known to attract 3,500 skiers and has been an early season tradition for more than 30 years. Katharine Ogden, another U.S. Ski Team (USST) D-team member who trains with SMS, took the win. USSA Releases 2016/2017 SuperTour Calendar: Opening in Bozeman, Ending in Fairbanks

On Monday, the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association published its 2016/2017 SuperTour calendar, which includes seven stops, not including West Yellowstone. “We’ve rotated a few sites this year and will continue to move around in the future to get the SuperTour to new places," USSA Nordic Domestic Program Director Robert Lazzaroni explains. "Moving the event around helps stimulate top-level racing in America.”

USSA Ends Affiliation With High Plains Division; Western Leaders Ask Why

Rebecca Watson, the board chair of the High Plains division, was surprised by an email saying that USSA was ending the affiliation agreement with the division - without warning or a probationary period to improve the weaknesses that USSA says it finds in Wyoming. Diggins Outlunges Sargent in Classic Sprint for 2nd Win of SuperTour Finals

Jessie Diggins was once again unstoppable on the second day of the SuperTour Finals in Craftsbury, Vt., winning the classic sprint ahead of fellow U.S. Ski Team members Ida Sargent and Rosie Brennan. Three SMST2 skiers reached the final, with Annie Hart placing fourth and Sophie Caldwell finishing fifth on her birthday.
