Sophie Caldwell hung tough for second place in Sunday's skate sprint in Estonia, just 0.14 seconds out of first, for her best Scando Cup result. Jennie Bender had another solid day in 11th and three other American women made the top 30. On Saturday, Ben Saxton led the U.S. men in 33rd in the classic sprint.

On a snowy day in Aspen, Colo., Mike Sinnott won the opening sprint prologue of the SuperTour weekend, Patrick Johnson claimed his first career win in the 10 k classic and Rosie Brennan went two-for-two in both women's races,
Caitlin Patterson led the American squad at the Madona, Latvia, Scando Cup with a ninth-place finish in the 10 k freestyle mass start on Thursday. Eric Packer, meanwhile, had a "breakthrough" race in the 20 k — he was 16th, only 24 seconds out of first.

Jess Cockney and Emily Nishikawa, both of the Alberta World Cup Academy and Senior Development Team, wrapped up Eastern Canadian Championships with the overall titles Sunday, winning their respective 30- and 15-kilometer pursuits in Cantley, Quebec.
Two Alberta World Cup Academy athletes topped the podium on the second day of Eastern Canadian Championships, with Michael Somppi winning another 15 k freestyle and Kate Brennan tallying her second-career NorAm win in the 10 k at Nakkertok Ski Club.
Brittany Webster tallied an important win at her home course and race favourite Graham Nishikawa skied away from the field at the Highlands Nordic NorAm on Sunday, which concluded the Canadian World Championships trials.
The Tour de Twin Cities concluded on Sunday with a 10/15 k freestyle pursuit. After dozens of accumulated laps around the 3.3 k Wirth Park course, Torin Koos and Rosie Brennan each maintained their leads and emerged victorious in the overall standings. Brian and Caitlin Gregg both posted the fastest times of the day for the stage wins and their first double victory as a couple.
Reese Hanneman won the 10 k classic race at Wirth Park on Saturday for his first career SuperTour distance win. He beat Mike Sinnott and Torin Koos in second and third, respectively. Rosie Brennan bested Jennie Bender by 0.6 seconds in the women's 5 k to take home stage four.
After a cold-induced delay in competition the Tour de Twin Cities continued on Friday in Minneapolis, Minnesota, with a classic sprint at Wirth Park. In conditions more amenable to racing, Mike Sinnott and Jennie Bender took home the titles in stage three.

Ever wonder what it's like inside the Bill Warren Training Centre, Canada's premiere indoor facility for national and development skiers? FasterSkier took a tour and some photos while in Canmore, Alberta.
In Bozeman earlier this season, bibs had to be redistributed for SuperTour sprint heats once starters were already on lining up. More recently and catastrophically in Craftsbury, an Eastern Cup had to cancel its sprint heats and hold a second qualifier after cascading hardware failures wreaked havoc on results. Here's why we can't expect these problems to go away.
