Quick Update from NZ

While we have been basking in the sun, the USST men’s squad has been training in New Zealand. Yesterday they had a 15 km classic mass start and today they had a freestyle sprint.

SMS is well represented down there with alums Andy Newell and Skyler Davis along with winter term alum Kris Freeman!
Skyler is fighting a nasty cold and has been unable to race, but the rest of the USST has been flexing their muscles.
In the 15 km, Kris Freeman won, with Andy 2nd, Alex Harvey and Devon Kershaw (World Champ. gold medalists from Canada) in 3rd and 4th.
The Russian sprint team is down there also..they have 12 skiers including the gold and silver medalists from the Olympics!
In the sprint today, Simi Hamilton, Andy, Lenny Valaas (Canada) and Kris F went 1-4 in the prelim. These four also made it through the rounds to the final and ended the day 1) Newell, 2) Freeman, 3) Hamilton, 4) Valaas.
Well done Team USA!
