Report On US National Masters in Anchorage Per K. Johnsen, South Colby, Washington In the face of nearly impossible odds the organizers of the National Masters Championships were able to pull off the event, without eliminating any of the races. They were tireless and always upbeat about the weather situation that nobody had control over. We ended up skiing at different places, different distances, and in snow conditions that none of us had expected when...

The Finale of National Masters was quite tame compared to the rest of the week. The race was held in town at Alaska Pacific University's trail system, and the skiing was quite good. The pursuit was very exciting, with Olympians Nina Kemppel and Adam Verrier taking the overall titles. A fast course, with a very fast downhill, made for many thrills and spills.

Racers in the 2003 National Masters Championships were promised racing at Kincaid Park, and today they finally got it. The Anchorage Organizing Committee and AXCS have been working tirelessly to make the event a success. An excellent track has been groomed at Glen Alps (about 25 minutes from downtown Anchorage) which will be used for the first couple of races. It is...

An already meager winter took a turn for the worse a week ago when the temperature rose to forty and a slight drizzle settled into the Anchorage Bowl. The weather has lingered there for a week now and shows no signs of improving. Some Anchorage locals...
