SOLDIER HOLLOW, Utah (Jan. 10) – Olympians Kris Freeman (Andover, NH) and Wendy Wagner (Park City, UT) took early leads Tuesday and led all the way to win the final events of the U.S. Cross Country Championships – the men’s 30K and women’s 20K pursuits – at sunny Soldier Hollow. Wagner overcame an equipment malfunction midway through the race. It was the second gold medal of the week – and fifth of his career –...

US Nationals wrap up today with the pursuit races at Soldier Hollow. Its the last race of the Championships and skiers 'on the bubble' will need to make it happen today. It is hard to speculate who the winners will be, because some of the top names might not race. It has been a long week with 5 races in 8 days. All of the skiers are tired. Those who have secured Olympic berths may...

Wendy Wagner took command of today's women's 20K pursuit race at Soldier Hollow early on, and won convincingly. Wendy built a lead in the classic leg, and was skiing by herself most of the way. A chase group of Lindsey Weier, Kristina Strandberg, and Abigail Larson fought for places two through four. The chase group did gain on Wagner in the latter parts of the skate leg, but Wagner already had the race in hand...

Much like Wendy Wagner did earlier in the day, Kris Freeman (USST) used his superior classic skiing to build a lead early in today's 30K pursuit race. By the time the skiers made the transition from classic technique to skate, Freeman was out in front for good. Andrew Johnson (USST) was the only one who was able to stay within a minute of Kris, closing to about 30 seconds by the finish. James Southam (Rossignol)...

Randall, who won the sprint gold medal Thursday and the 10K classic technique crown Saturday,...

In a 5K free technique race timed down to tenths of a second, Liz Stephen (Burke Mtn Academy) and Kikkan Randall (APUNSC) tied atop the leaderboard with identical times of 14:48.7. Randall, who had won the last two races convincingly, was the odds-on favorite today. But Stephen, a junior, stepped up and set a fast pace that Randall, starting later, was able to match but not beat. Kristina Strandberg (Subaru Factory Team) was third. Kate...
