I spent Saturday morning out on the Methow Valley's race trails, helping to prepare skis for racers at the Methow Valley Pursuit.    Day 1 was a 10km individual start classic race. Conditions were hard-track klister skiing, with a track sno...

After all the hype, particularly last season, regarding the major (though seemingly friendly) rivalry between Petter Northug and Marcus Hellner, it’s been interesting to have it all sort of fizzle out this year. Northug’s been struggling with getting back into form after being sick, and Hellner also struggled somewhat during the Tour de Ski. However, [...] Related posts:

The last few weeks here in Craftsbury have been wintery and awesome. We got lots of snow, and pretty much every day has been filled with perfect wintery activities, like going for really long skis on grand tour, skiing to lunch, skiing to dinner, skiing in blizzards, skiing in the moonlight, skiing in the sun, [...]

Jan. 22 & 23,  Theodore Wirth Park,  Mayors Challenge Super Tour   Nurturing a bad cold I elected not to race on Saturday. I did ski Sunday, but not fast. I am hoping the effort drove out any remaining cold cells. Congrats to Caitlin who was first place in both races. The good cold Minnesota [...]

In early January I traveled to Europe to compete in some IBU Cup competitions.  The first weekend was in Nove Mesto in the Czech Republic.  The countryside around Nove Mesto has rolling hills with patches of forests and lots of fields.  Imagine the Creek Road between East Albany and Craftsbury, but add high rise apartments [...]
