Rocky Mountain division was the only division to win more than one relay today, taking the J1 Boys and the J2 girls races. Pacific Northwest won the J2 boys,Intermountain won the J1 girls, New England won the OJ girls, and Midwest won the OJ boys. Six champions were crowned today at the second day of competition of the US Junior National Championships at Soldier Hollow. All six races were exciting with lots of movement among racers throughout each race. Races began at 8 AM in order to combact the warm temperatures that reached over 50 degrees. The talk of the day at the opening race at the 2007 US Junior Nationals was J2 Men's Champion George Cartwright of High Plains Division. George, a second year J2 from Lander, Wyoming, smoked the prelims in the morning and dominated every heat he raced enroute to winning the J2 Men's freestyle sprint title. One day remains until the start of the 2007 US Junior Nationals. Teams from around the country were all at Soldier Hollow training in preparation for tomorrow's freestyle individual sprint. Sprint qualifiying begins at 9AM and quarterfinal heats start at noon. Below are photos from today.
