Anyone who follows U.S. racing closely knows the name Patrick O'Brien. He's been a staple at Craftsbury for the last four years, captained the Dartmouth ski team, and is now delving into a career as head coach of the Stratton T2 Team -- something he didn't necessarily anticipate but sees as a good fit and ideal transition.
SuperTour Resumes in Craftsbury; Caitlin Gregg, Scott Patterson Top Podium

Domestic racing continued with the SuperTour this past weekend in Craftsbury, Vt, where Caitlin Gregg podiumed in all three races, twice at the top, and second in the classic race to Rosie Brennan. On the men's side, Scott Patterson captured two wins in a row, and Sam Naney took a victory in Sunday's sprint.

The Craftsbury Outdoor Center has broken ground on a new activity lodge and fitness center, which is scheduled to open in May 2014. The net-zero facility will replace the existing Touring Center.

Ever played at Fenway? Lined up across from Peyton Manning? Fed Lionel Messi a perfect cross? Playing with heroes of sport is generally closed to most of us mortals – but not for fans of biathlon this October 5.
The Craftsbury Outdoor Center is looking for a coach to work with our Junior Nordic skiers, as well as lead our Biathlon program. Ideal candidates will have experience both in coaching biathlon and coaching junior skiers.
In an effort to ring in 2013/2014, we’re kicking off our second-annual elite team preview – now called “The 12.” Starting with the Craftsbury Green Racing Project and proceeding in no particular order, we’ll profile 12 of the biggest powerhouses in U.S. cross-country skiing throughout the next several weeks. Don't worry, we'll get to Canada, too.

We know, we know: it's FAHL-IN. But still. The World Cup wrapped up with spectacular races and plenty of sun in Stockholm and Falun, with Justyna Kowalczyk and Petter Northug winning the season-long titles and Kikkan Randall taking home not only the Sprint Cup but also third place in the overall. Plus, racing on this side of the pond at Whistler and Craftsbury.

Sorry, New Hampshire: the Vermont-based teams of Craftsbury, Stratton, and UVM had a lock on the podium at the Craftsbury Spring Tour after 10/15 k pursuits based on the previous two days' results. Sophie Caldwell consolidated her lead to win by a mile, while Pat O'Brien worked some slick skis through the sunny snow to edge out Eric Packer.

Recently back from Europe, Sophie Caldwell has dominated Craftsbury's mini-tour so far, winning the 3.6 k prologue by over 30 seconds and the sprint qualifier by ten. The men's field is tighter, after Pat O'Brien and Paddy Caldwell dueled it out in the prologue and then the sprint final came down to a drag race between SMST2 teammates Eric Packer and Skyler Davis.
Traditions Stay Alive at Relocated Dartmouth Carnival

Though the venue was not Oak Hill and the weekend did not fall on Valentine's Day, the Dartmouth Carnival still upheld many traditions of fast racing, school spirit and "Carni-Crush" excitement
In Bozeman earlier this season, bibs had to be redistributed for SuperTour sprint heats once starters were already on lining up. More recently and catastrophically in Craftsbury, an Eastern Cup had to cancel its sprint heats and hold a second qualifier after cascading hardware failures wreaked havoc on results. Here's why we can't expect these problems to go away.
Want to get on snow, without breaking the bank? Now until December 14, the Craftsbury Outdoor Center is helping skiers of the northeast and beyond accomplish both of those goals - whether they're part of a team or flying solo.

The Western Regional Elite Group (REG) Camp kicked off in earnest at 6 a.m. Monday, June 25, with a trail-run time trial up Agony Hill. On the training schedule, instructions read: “Bring your ‘A’ game.” Dozens of teenage athletes raced uphill, ran and rollerskied last week.
