Junior/U23 World Championships Open with Skate Sprints; Diggins Second

With a World Cup sprint victory already under his belt, Russia's Sergey Ustiugov racked up another U23 title and Jessie Diggins came oh-so-close, winning the women's qualifier then placing second to Germany's Elisabeth Schicho in the final. France's Jean Tiberghien won the junior men's sprint, Sweden's Jonna Sundling captured her first individual junior title, and Canada's Katherine Stewart-Jones placed 15th.

Wednesday Workout: Audrey Weber’s CrossFit Experiment (with Video)

In her first year of dental school, Audrey Weber, 27, has less time for ski-specific training and instead shifted her focus to the gym, where she's found success with CrossFit. "Currently, I am 13 months into my own personal case study called, 'How Fit Can an Ex-Cross Country Ski Racer Stay on Four Hours of Training Per Week?' " she says. "Some preliminary results are in, and the findings are quite interesting." she says.

The fourth FIS points list of the season was released today providing some clarity to the naming of the United States cross-county Olympic Team. The points list serves as the third criteria for selection to the team, following World Cup ranking, and coaches discretion. With discretion as number two the points list may or may not have a role in who is selected to the team.
