Joel Sehloff comes to us from the Midwest where he was a Nordic racer and cyclist, having worked retail in a bicycle shop in his hometown, transitioning to another Nordic/cycling shop in Park City, Utah after graduation from college. Joel has an infectious enthusiasm for both sports and will be an important addition to the ONE WAY Sport USA team. Joel joins Mike Lundeen in the Midwest market and Jeff Winnick in the Northeast as key representatives for ONE WAY Sport USA.

Sugar Bowl Academy is pleased to announce they are accepting applications for their Elite Nordic Team for the coming 2016/2017 season. The team will provide world-class coaching and training opportunities to its athletes. The primary purpose of this event is to get women out and take away their excuses. It certainly is a nice date and the event gets done in time to watch the Super Bowl. Race Director, Tamra Kornfield said 500 women signed up for the event this year, a slight drop from last year’s numbers but the goal is to get more women interested in the sport as well as supporting a good cause....
The American Birkebeiner is truly the "Super Bowl of Skiing" and the 2016 American Birkebeiner Ski Foundation (ABSF) schedule of events did not disappoint the 12,000 skiers who flocked to Hayward, Wisconsin to enjoy the festivities and trails of the North Country. The crazy weather was a different story; it caused a bit of stress for skiers, coaches, and wax technicians, including the Central Cross Country Skiing (CXC) wax team of Karmen Whitham, Marty Donegan, and Bruce Manske.

The 36th annual UP Health System Great Bear Chase is almost here! Conditions are looking great, with a packed base of 24” on the course and great temperatures leading up to Saturday, March 5th.
The Great Bear Chase ski race will be March 5th this year, and as always, will showcase both our area’s wonderful trails and people. The event requires the dedication and support of over 100 community volunteers. Positions are still available if you are interested in helping out with this great community event. The race will take place on Saturday, March 5th, 2016 at the beautiful Swedetown Trails in Calumet, Michigan.
We have danced, we have prayed, we have kept our hopes up. Sadly the winter has not collaborated, and cross country ski conditions, especially along the Stowe Rec Path have been marginal at best. With more rain in the forecast for this week, organizers have come to an agreement that it was unsafe to run the race until we get more snow. The Stowe Derby is getting a second chance, and it is rescheduled to Sunday, March 20th, 2016.
