In today's interval-start 5k Classic at Mt. Itasca, Minnesota, Team Rossignol's Karin Camenisch won with a mere 0.33 seconds to spare ahead of U.S. National Sprint Champion Lindsay Williams. Williams' teammate from Northern Michigan University, Lindsey Weier, took third, roughly 13 seconds back. Tasha Betcherman of Lappe Nordic and NMU's Morgan Smyth were fourth and fifth respectively. Karin Camenisch won the SuperTour 10k Freestyle race held at Mt. Itasca, Minnesota today, ahead of college skiers Johanna Turunen (UAF) and Lindsey Weier (NMU.) A healthy field of 51 finishers made for a competitve event and a great atmosphere.

Ivan Babikov charged to yet another SuperTour victory in the 10k Freestyle at Mt. Itasca, Minnesota today. Babikov's time of 25:32.61 put him nearly 30 seconds ahead of second-place finisher Lars Flora, while Leif Zimmerman of the U.S. Development Team grabbed another podium in a very competitive field of 92 men. Possibly an even bigger factor is the excellent trail preparation done during the offseason. The trails have been manicured so that races can be held on only a few inches of snow, with hardly any dirt, rocks, or vegetation showing through. Rebecca Dussault Pushes Hard With the top two spots firmly established early on in the women's race, the real battle was for third. Rossignol skiers Karin Camenisch and Brooke Baughman held slight leads over Aubrey Smith and APU's Aelin Peterson. In the end it was Aubrey Smith, skiing on Atomic, who cranked out a substantial 27.5 second lead ahead of Camenisch to take her place on the podium. Aelin Peterson kept it strong in fifth.
