The National Nordic Foundation (NNF) announced today a record level of funding for the 2013/14 season. $305,000 has been allocated to support the NNF’s Pillar Projects thanks to a combination of their grassroots fundraiser, The Drive for 25, a collection of generous donors, charity events and industry support. An increase in the size of the NNF organization and an increased focus on community involvement helped push the total dollars raised to support this level of funding. “We added support staff and lifted our goals and the result was profound,” explained Dave Knoop, director of the NNF, “This funding effort will support our pillar projects in 2014: trips, camps, and outreach that will give junior skiers more exposure to competition and training. It’s a chance to introduce more people to the healthy lifestyle of Nordic skiing and to increase our presence in the sport.”

Sugar Bowl has released 25 new homesites for sale at Summit Crossing in the ski resort’s ski-in/ski-out base area. The homes are centrally located in one of the most unique ski settings in the nation— a snowbound village where residents are brought to their home by snowcat and walk out their door to a frontyard of lift-served skiing or endless cross-country ski trails.

Overnight low was 22f and the snow was old manmade that had gone through some transitioning. Crystals are rounding. For the 10km women's race, the snow stayed firm and abrasive, but for the men, it got kind of meeley and started to break apart. For glide, the same waxes that worked well in colder conditions yesterday worked well today. Our best tip was LF Black/LF Blue mixed for a base. Then HF Blue. We covered this all with HB004 a race service powder that works very well sometimes but isn't as universal as JetStream Red for example. This was is generally only found on the World Cup and with elite teams.
